Conventional Braces (Metal Braces) Options at Mar Orthodontics

Conventional braces are most commonly referred to as metal braces, and you may also hear people refer to them as traditional braces. They are less frequently referred to as buccal braces. Clear braces and ceramic braces are another type of conventional braces.

Today there is an extensive range of braces options available (like hidden braces and Invisalign), but traditional braces are still an excellent option, especially for adolescents and teens

You’re probably familiar with how conventional braces work; brackets (metal or ceramic) are attached to the front side of your teeth, and they are then connected with a wire. The wires need periodic tightening to gradually straighten your teeth.

If you’re concerned about the look of metal braces, you’ll be happy to know that there are other material options for brackets. Clear and ceramic brackets are also available for traditional braces, and they can help to disguise your braces.

Mar Orthodontics is pleased to provide a variety of conventional braces options to our Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park and area patients.
